ABOUT ME

I started working in Financial services in 2000. Before then I worked in publishing, as a book editor and historian. This move from history to finance may sound a leap but that is where he learnt to gather, investigate and assess complex data; understand and analyse issues, and convey them into easily understood themes. All key to giving good advice.

I love working on long-term projects like:

  • building up wealth for the future;

  • getting enough income during retirement without paying too much tax;

  • securing your children's inheritance or

  • making sure your money meets your needs and leaves enough to help the next generation,

Outside of work I remember I had hobbies once, but then family came along and it became easier just to follow their hobbies. When I get the chance you’ll find me on a long walk with my two collies. I was chair of Polzeath Surf Life Saving Club and I still train beach lifeguards, but as either I’m getting slower or they are getting faster I seem to find it easier to keep up by going out in an Inshore Rescue Boat.

FEES

We charge for our services in various ways. We discuss these options with you before you make any commitment: the level of fee depends on the type and complexity of work undertaken and the amount of the investment. The amount to be charged will be disclosed and agreed with you either at the end of our initial meeting or at our earliest opportunity once we understand the work required. The charge will always be disclosed before you commit to taking up our advice. Full details of charges are contained in the firm's Terms of Business agreement which you can read here.

To give you an indication of the fees you are likely to have to pay I have given some examples of past work below:

ISA INVESTMENT

A relatively straightforward investment of £40,000 into an investment ISA over two tax years. The charge was 3% of the investment, equivalent to £1,200

INHERITANCE TAX PLANNING

This was a more complex case, involving reducing a significant potential  inheritance tax bill and maintaining income in retirement. The total investment was £225,000. The total charge was £4250
